Abstract:

This outstanding collection counters the model of resistance that takes worldwide proletarian unity as its prerequisite. In place of workers of the world, Lisa Lowe, David Lloyd, and their contributors explore a range of oppositional alliances forged on the basis of shared, contingent commitments including race, gender, class, sexual orientation and ethnicity, and in every case worked out on the ground on the basis of cultural positionality.
